pollok2

Earlier this year (2017) the Village Storytelling Centre spent time searching high and low for the unknown stories of Pollok. They captured stories from the young, and the young at heart, to create a picture of Pollok.  A picture that goes beyond the simplistic assumptions that people can make of an area.

These stories were recorded and now find a home within a beautiful booklet, and the interactive map you see below. Generations of people will now be able to listen to and enjoy the fabulous, hidden oral history that exists in an often misunderstood area of Glasgow.

Click on the icons of the stories in the map above and you’ll be able to listen and/ or read some of these tales. Use the plus/minus on the left to zoom in or out or click on the    symbol to open the map nice and big in a new window.

Take some time and explore Pollok through the voices of the people who know it best, the locals!…
